Rev. Dr. Michael A. Sanders is the 18th Pastor of Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
Since September 26, 2011, Pastor Sanders has been privileged and honored to serve as Pastor of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Richmond, VA. He has been called to “Preach, heal and lead God’s people to salvation.” His life’s mission is to treat the people’s needs as holy; give a voice to voiceless; and minister to the hurts and hopes of God’s people. The Lord’s vision for Mt. Olive is to be a “Christian community within the community that transforms the community.” One church ministering to four generations. Spreading the gospel, building up the saints and glorifying the Lord!
Pastor Sanders ran from his call to pastor for 30 years. After a Damascus Road experience on January 12, 2000, he accepted his call and was licensed to preach the gospel at New Shiloh Baptist Church in Baltimore, MD on June 17, 2000. He was ordained at Queen Street Baptist Church in Norfolk, VA on December 14, 2002. He has preached, taught and served in various capacities for large, medium-sized and small churches in the U.S. and in Africa, as an Associate Pastor for Public Ministry, Associate Minister, teacher, facilitator, and consultant. He is an attorney, has served as an Adjunct Professor for Urban Ministry at the Baptist Theological Seminary of Richmond, Virginia, City-Wide Coordinator for the Faith Leaders Initiative of Richmond, Virginia, and Biblical Teacher for Richmond City Jail.
